I am an editor and a librarian, and in both roles I understand and appreciate the importance of a proper index. I have worked in type-related jobs for many years, as proofreader, typesetter, and copy editor. Not only do I maintain my own website for transcribed historical documents (see below) but as a volunteer I serve as webmaster for several organizations. I worked in chess-related publications for nearly twenty years; most recently as Assistant Editor of Chess Life magazine, the publication of the U.S. Chess Federation, where maintaining the research library was one of my responsibilities. I began as an indexer by performing that task annually for the magazine.

I've transcribed several 200-year-old documents in the possession of the City of Newburgh, New York, indexed them, and coded them in HTML.
